Christmas Eve

I have the girliest desktop (bar one), that I have ever yet had. I generally have a tomboy's aversion to pink, but I just loved the new holiday spuffy wallpaper by spikeshunny to bits, and have made it the centerpiece of my new, pinkish pc ensemble.

I want to thank diachrony for the virtual pressies. They made me smile. :) And I want to express my thanks and appreciation to all my amazing, talented flist. You all added so much to my year with your wonderful art and writing and friendship.

I'm being terribly lazy today, except for when I work. I've been subsisting on chocolate-chip oatmeal cookies, nuked just until the chips are melty again, tall glasses of milk, trashy fiction and naps. Later, I will have to go to my in-laws and with a bit of luck none of the meth labs in the neighboring trailers will explode I will strive to be a friendly and grateful guest, the kids will have a great time, great-grandma will be pleased, and then we will all come home safe and sound and I will be deeply thankful for it. Most people say 'this too will pass' when times are bad, but it is true always. I try to remember.

It amuses me to see Buffy's head on top of Ellen Pompeo's body and Spike's head on top of Patrick Dempsey's body in that wallpaper. It's a *really good* manip!

Right now I have a black-n-blue Drusilla wallpaper by bogwitch ... not particularly seasonal.

Here's to surviving exploding meth labs in-law holiday dinners ... cheers!

Ellen Pompeo plays the titular character, "Meredith Grey," on the TV show Grey's Anatomy and Patrick Dempsey plays her "Dr. McDreamy" heartthrob (I forget his character's name, it's Derek something...) They did a fashion advertisement layout together and I've been seeing the original in magazines recently, which is how I recognized the source for the manip. Heh.

There are many hundreds of reasons why I love you, sweetie, but the fact that you're thankful, centered and warm spirit is really at the heart of it, and is in large part why I feel so connected to you.

You're an amazing woman. You're a hard worker and an terrific mom. You're a talented writer and a patient and giving friend. I'm so grateful that I met you this year and even more so that we've become such good friends.

I wish for more than goodness for you this Christmas. I wish you joy. I wish you peace of mind. I wish you love and ... oh, heck hon, any darn thing you want, because you deserve that.

Aw, Beans, what a wonderful thing this was to come home to, and what an amazing gift your friendship has been. It really is precious to me. And... it's now 12:15 and teh 1yo is crying for me :P but I want you to know that I could write that comment to you and mean every word. *hugs*
