Or, for most of you, what I have been doing when I should be writing crack!fic. Never fear, I have been thinking about the fic a lot which means that writing will probably soon result. Still, it's difficult with the weather so gorgeous.

BEFORE

AFTER

The boards you can see embedded in the grass in the top pic were salvaged from some remodeling. When my house was built, foot wide redwood planks were as cheap as dirt and were used with abandon. They've now been cut and are leaning against the shed. I'm going to make 3 raised beds out of them which will hopefully contain all the dirt piles and then some. In the meantime the boys have been doing their best to move all the dirt into the house by throwing it all over themselves and then running inside (repeat every twenty minutes). What you couldn't see embedded in the grass was literally tons of brick and river rock and 4 genuine mini-boulders. Some of the rock I used to make a raised bed.

I've planted it with varieties of sage and lavender. I still can't quite believe I have real live perennials again after almost two years. I am ridiculously excited!!! :D:D:D

Looks fabulous, sweetie. I am so very jealous. I have some potted herbs on my desk, but long for a place to plant more kitch witch stuff and maybe some tomato and pepper plants. You've done an amazing job, you should be so proud.

It looks fantastic! I bet it'll really be spectacular when the beds are full of plants. Have you got sunburnt from being outside?

Ooooh, spiffeh. I'm amused that you can see the branches on the tree in the left-hand part of the photo spread have grown out, too - "look, time passed!" ;) [livejournal.com profile] panzerwalt is the official gardener 'round my house, and he's done some raised rock-lined beds and such too, as well as planting all kinds of flowering things all around the house. Me, with my amazing capacity for plant-killing, look around and go "yay plants!" and that's about the extent of it. ;)

Are you planning on putting in paving stones? I dunno, I love paving stones... dunno how practical they are with young children around, though.
