I was watching Missile to the Moon the other night. It's one of those movies where a nice phallic rocket boldly goes to a place populated entirely by international beauty queens. As always, the different body styles struck me. I'm glad they have a non-skinny woman on Dollhouse, but I wish the writers and wardrobe department didn't treat her like she was fat. I have yet to see her in a pair of jeans or a cute little top, much less the skin-tight garb favored in MttM. A points out that the 'Mellie' assignment is of a non-assertive person, but is this a coincidence? And in the episode where the actives were escaping and were themselves, Sierra and Echo apparently opted for snug jeans and knit tops, but 'Mellie' is dressed for church, and on Easter Sunday, and not one of those hip churches (I feel sure they exist).

I have so many mixed feelings about this show, it makes my head hurt. I've noitced the Mellie "church marm" look too, and I know exactly what dress you mean. It's these weird choices that keep me from hitting my stride with this show. Although I suppose coming from deep hatred at the beginning of the season to gruding admiration at the end is something.

See? Very conflicted and confused.

And yes to the body style issue -- it is weird to see how far things have progressed.

where "progressed" is not perhaps the right word...

I know how you feel. It's got a well-imagined reality, but it's unreliable and all over the place. And everyone is so icky! But pretty--except when their sternum is totally showing through their skin. And they've all got their little story, and here they are being all vulnerable... Fie!

Plus, Alpha? Didn't work for me at all. It seemed too sudden somehow, a bad guy pulled from a hat, even though they've been talking about him all season. Alan Tudyk is cute, but he scuttles. Scary evil can't scuttle. At least, not away.
