Jeff the baby corn snake has been AWOL from his tank for a few days. We've been worried the cat would get him or that he would crawl into the heating ducts and starve. But I lifted the winter coats out of a laundry basket and there he was! Much rejoicing, and the edition of weights to the tank lid.

In other news, the Mister and I road tripped south. He found us a camp ground near the San Jose valley. Unbeknownst to us, the road turned into something a bit like driving along the edge of a skyscraper. I am terrified of heights so that was white-knuckled. But, just over the crest were rolling grasslands and live oaks with the observatory gleaming white on the next ridge, and waking up to golden sunlight, dueling woodpeckers and wild turkeys.

My spring annuals are going gangbusters. Pics soon I hope.

Yay to the snake being back in his rightful tank!

Road trip/camping trip sounds awesome (other than the bonus cliff driving).

Yay indeed! What if I had stepped on him during the night... :/

Judging by the size of the houses in the area, some people pay big bucks to cliff drive every day!

Yeah to snake findage! And i can't imagine another context where I would actually type that sentence. Indiana Jones and I tend to agree on that one, LOL!

Sounds like a fun trip. Maybe not the white-knuckle heights, but I'll bet you had some gorgeous views!

I'm just glad I didn't take the basket to my mom's with the snake in it. It was the only pet she absolutely forbade me to have (if you don't count a pony), so it would have been a fine thing if Jeff had made the trip.
