The buzz is growing about the coming Buffy Season 8 comics.

I think the comics are canon cuz Joss says they are. It's his baby. But, as much as I love BtVS, I won't be lining up. For one utterly lame reason, I saw the 'sneak peaks' and was rather turned off by Buffy tarted dressed up like Michael Jackson in the nineties a comic book heroine. Guess the comic book folks couldn't afford a wardrobe person, or Buffy joined The Initiative or... she took up rock climbing? dressed up as Edward Scissorhands for Halloween? I just don't know, but it's not my fantasy.

For another, I am a pathetic Spuffy shipper. Canonically those two crazy kids are forever divided by licensing agreements, a few thousand miles and all good sense.

Finally, and not quite so lame, I get tired for characters that I care about. For there to keep being stories about them, their lives have to continue to be fraught and tragic. If they've done their tour of duty and then some, I'd just as soon they retired, even though it means I will never hear about them again.

I'm with you on the Spuffy thing--I need to fantasize that B and S get together eventually.

I'm right there with you. It was my first thought when I realized they weren't going to be writing Spike. Worse, I was afraid they WERE going to write Spike and make him stupid. That would be very bad.

I trust my fic writers to do well by Spuffy!

OH YUK ... *that* is what they're having Buffy wear? Edward Scissorhands for Halloween indeed. No thank you.

I don't care what Joss says ... Buffy would never dress like that OMG!!

I'll stick to reading Spuffy fanfic. :)

My husband suggested that it might only a dream sequence (nightmare obviously, or Xander wet dream?) I'm not buying it though.

Maybe now that Buffy has a big organization for slaying, their insurance company demands that Slayers wear protective kneepads and wrist braces?

Heh, Joss is really getting into grown-up themes now. I'll bet her policy stipulates how many vampires she can engage per evening (for slaying). Or maybe it's in total poundage. After that baddie in the pic she'll probably have to call it a night or risk losing her coverage.
