Slaving on my rental's landscaping has gotten me inspired, so I measured my backyard and made a Plan. The outlined areas will be raised beds. I haven't decided on materials yet. I will also have to take out a patio sort of thing and a 18 foot long wall of ivy. There are probably spiders in it that will try and climb on me. Ick. But, I must be brave.



I can't believe I have so much yard all to my own self!! :D

There will be herbs, and corn flowers, and deeply colored snapdragons. Pineapple Sage bushes as tall as me, and the kids will pull off their flowers and drink the drop of nectar from the tiny red straws. Buddleias, catmints and lavendars of all sorts. Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme, but with 99% less 60's pop folk-rock. I like things with scented foliage and that attract bees and butterflies and hummingbirds. I'm also hoping to grow lettuce, and squash and baby corn. Apparently lettuce can be grown year-round around here.

I love gardens at the planning stage. Mine was so much a question of recovery rather than building. i wish you every joy. I was planting dark red snap-dragons today!

Dark red snapdragons! Yes! I will be wanting me some of those. My garden is kind of a building on the ashes of the demolition thing.
