I watched the first two eps of Moonlight last night. It is Bad, make no mistake. The acting can be very awkward, as is the show's use of devices that I didn't even notice were devices on other shows. Their villains have an edge-crush test rating and their rendition of the flappy coat somehow manages to say 'Marilyn Monroe' rather than 'romantic anti-hero'. Since the anti-hero is wearing jeans instead of silk thigh highs, there's really no win. They fail at pretty much everything, except at making me excited to watch the next episode.
I don't get it, but I don't really care :D Maybe they have subliminal messages like: "He just needs the love of a good woman" or "Vamp shlongs are bigger". Oh, and Jason Dohring as an amoral vampire type, amen. I would watch just for that, I love his evil.

It's so nice to have a vampire show that looks to give me what I want instead of what Joss thinks I need. Maybe Joss needs bigger explosions and moar angst, and to look himself in the mirror in the morning, but I _need_ me some vampire romance, damn it all.
