Spring

First it was the geese, and then on January 29 it was the robins. I didn't even notice when the robins left last year, but then I looked out the window that morning and there was one in the plum tree. They were everywhere that day, and now most of them seem to have moved on to parts north. Today the blossoms on the plum tree are starting to open; in few weeks there will be little pink snowflakes falling past my window. And spring is on my flist all of the sudden, everyone seems ready. One person is painting their toenails in wistful anticipation; another is planting their first garden seeds; a few remark on days of balmy weather that whet their anticipation. Happy 'spring is a lot closer than it was in December' everyone! :)

I have to admit - I'm shocked with the idea of spring in Feb. My part of the world (Maryland) doesn't see spring till mid-end of April.

It this usual weather for you? When does winter start?

It is the usual weather for me. It's hard to say when winter starts. December? We actually get a few hard frosts Dec/Jan. Tender stuff can be planted outside with confidence in mid-March. I live on the California coast.

In NY, spring is still a hope. Days are getting longer and the indoor plants are reaching for the light. My bulbs are in hiding. The geese never leave anymore and there is ice in the shady part of the garden.

Hurry, hurry spring.

I dunno what to tell you. :) Snow, yay!? I don't get to have snow, or pretty autumn leaves.

when it comes to snow you are not missing much.the dangerous road conditions the back breaking work to shovel it out of your drive way.autumn leaves are pretty but also a hassel to rake up in the yard and waiting and most of all praying that the leaf collecting trucks are running on time or even at all.don't get me started on frequent power outages every time a flake falls on the power lines that my asshole state has promised for thirty years to put underground and hasen't yet.

I love that- a robin in the plum tree. What a happy image. :)

It is closer than it was. This is such a good thing! But we won't see full spring for another six weeks at least, so I'm extra grateful for those rare warm days, when they come by.

Will you add to your garden this year?

It's storming right now. Clouds and lashing rain. *pouts*

I would like to add to it. I plan to turn a small concrete pad by the porch steps into the base for a brick planter. :)
